Miss Tourism Ghana- Geraldine Atta Sappor

I am Geraldine Atta Sappor, 20 years of age
A third year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Family and Consumer Science at University of Ghana, Legon. I attended Mfantsiman Girls’ Senior High School and Queensland International School
My passion for tourism started at primary school where we used to embark on several visits to major tourist sites. I played a role at Mfantsiman Girls’ as the Assistant Compound Prefect where I was in charge of sanitation and cleanliness on campus as well as Assistant Captain of the basketball team at Mfantsiman,
Currently in the University of Ghana, I am a member of the Family and Consumer Science Students Association and the Ghana Methodist Students Association.
As the reigning Queen of Miss Tourism Ghana, I have been able to complete a number of projects along with the organisation and my runner ups.  As an organisation, we focus on sanitation and the environment and this is because we believe that in order to promote our country and entice people to visit our land, we have to put certain measures in place and the sanitation state of a country is key.We partnered with the Rotary Club of Adabraka and the Australian Embassy for the Nshornaa project and had two clean up exercises, one at the Adabraka cluster of schools and the other at the Tema Titanic beach.
We educated some students of the Tema Community 7 Basic School on the 5Ps of the Sustainable Development Goals. We went on to have a tree planting exercise in collaboration with the Ashiaman Municipal Assembly, the Ghana Police and the Abibiman  Foundation in the Ashiaman locality.
In other activities we began a campaign towards the Global Hand washing Day by educating various schools on the need for good hygienic practices and regular hand washing
Personally it is my desire to help needy children in the areas of education, health, good food and drinking water. All of which are highlighted in the first 4 goals of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In view of this, Crown the Needy project began. Our first act was to give medical services to some less privileged children in the Teshie Nungua area. We managed to feed them with hot meals delicious smoothies and this was all possible because of the help we had.
Away from the projects and the charity work, I am currently looking to gain my degree in Bsc Family and Consumer science and further study in the field of Psychology. It is my aspiration to become a Family and Child Psychologist so i will be able to help families in our society deal with issues they face but are not willing to address and in turn over look it.
