There is a musician from Ghana named Michael Owusu Addo who we would like to show you. His stage name is Sarkodie was born on July 10, 1988, in Tema to Emma Maame Aggrey, who raised him by herself. He is the fourth of five children. Sarkodie started at Achimota Prepatory and then moved on to Tema Methodist Day Secondary. In his early days as a rapper, Sarkodie looked up to Obrafour, who is also from Ghana.
By the time he was in Class 4, Sarkodie was writing his own songs and really getting into rapping and rhyming. After earning a certificate in graphic design from IPMC (Tema Branch), Sarkodie told his family some shocking news: “After IPMC, I got a job working for a billboard company, but I didn’t take it.” Instead I was thinking about the studio. The moment I see computers and a studio, I get inspired,” Sarkodie stated.
After telling his family that he wanted to focus on making music instead of working a “normal” job, Sarkodie announced something else. But Sarkodie told them that his music would pay the bills; he just needs time. This is what Sarkodie said: “Wherever your heart is, your treasure is.” He knew that his heart had always been in music. Sarkodie didn’t have to work, so he could make music 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The fastest rapper, also known as “rapperholic,” is a hip hop and hiplife artist from Tema, Ghana. The 2012 BET Awards gave him the award for Best International Act: Africa. The 2014 BET Awards also put him up for the same award. His name is known by many in Ghana as one of the best hip hop and hiplife artists in the country. People think of him as one of the main people who promote the Azonto style and dance. After September 2011, he was in the news all the way through 2012.
He was the first Ghanaian artist to win the prestigious Black Entertainment Television (B.E.T.) award. Dr. Bawumia, who is running for president with Nana Akuffo Addo, praised him for making Ghana proud. The Nigerian Music Industry Awards named him “African Artist of the Year.” The National Youth Achievers Awards gave him an award in the music category with Becca. Non-Nigerian Artiste of the Year was Sarkodie, and the list goes on.
